Wall art in Malaysia

I remembered when I was in primary school, we use to have mural in school. Even during Form 1 to Form 3, I think I were part of the mural making.

And nowadays I saw the mural in creative way…or I should call it as wall art

Here some of the places around Malaysia that have wall art..

All of it FOC, you can shoot OOTD and of course Instagram-able place :) #instagrambest #yangxdebolehlaterjebak

Penang Wall Art Street
Tho I have been several times to Penang, never had a chance to visit the wall art (even dh few time pi Penang, baru 2 kali je makan pasembor kat padang kota lama tu)

The location is scattered. I saw from this link Penang have welded iron wall caricatures besides the famous street art by Lithuanian artist Ernest Zacharevic

Gopeng Wall Art

The murals are on Jalan Market, Jalan Eu Kong and Jalan Tasek, and are being drawn by young artists, Woh Jing Hao from Johor, and Ipoh girl Jane Low Kar Lai.

The five murals are named Gopeng Orang Asli Hut, A Chinese Cultural Activity, Dulang Washing, The Original Gopeng Lai Fun Noodle Sold In A Tricycle and Open Court Sittings, and The Man On Old Scooters Beside A Traditional Malay Rojak Fruit Stall.

They are part of 10 murals being drawn by the two artists.

The other five, Gopeng Water-Pipe Deployed By A Herd of Elephants, Rafflesia Flower and The Orang Asli Blow-Piping, Gravel Tin Mining, A Traditional Olden Chinese Home and the Rubber Industry are expected to be completed in February next year. (Source here)

Ipoh street art
Initiated by art teacher, Eric Lai, who runs an art school Artgene Studio in Bercham. The paintings highlight the many cultures of Malaysia : Indian dance, popular childhood games like hide-and-seek

Ipoh Street Arts @ back alley between Jalan Masjid and Jalan Sultan Iskandar, Ipoh.
GPS coordinates : 4.593528,101.082179
Directions : As you come along Jalan Dato Onn Jaafar (Cockman Street) towards Super Kinta/UTC’s direction, you will reach a crossroad with traffic lights. This is the junction that will lead you to Ipoh Old Town if you turn LEFT into Jalan Sultan Iskandar (Hugh Low Street). Just before you reach the traffic lights, look LEFT and you will see the back alley with the first painting; the Lion Dance.

Johor wall art
Since Johor is famous with Lego...the wall art also related to Lego

The controversial graffiti art by Ernest Zacharevic. It has been removed, but from here someone has replicate the mural in George Town

Seems that most of the wall art ada motorsikal, kereta atau basikal kan?
