5 food reviews of restaurant/cafe around KL and Klang Valley

1-Jibby & Co
GK11, Empire Shopping Gallery, Jalan SS 16/1, 47500, Subang Jaya, Selangor
Opening hours : 8.30 am till 11.30pm

Went to Jibby & Co, as farewell for me from my ex-colleagues. Since we went there on weekday and during lunch hour, it was packed.

View during lunch hour on weekday

The waiters helped to seat us outside at first while waiting if there is any chances of getting a table inside. At the same time we, we were given with a menu for us to choose.

From menu wise it offers variety choices – from breakfast, salad, main course, burgers & open sandwich, pasta, pizza, Asian food and of course dessert and drink. Price range from RM8 up to RM72. Breakfast menu is served from 8.30 am till 4pm.

Crispy Panko Chicken Schnitzel (RM35)

Since it was a peak hour, the waiting period is more than 45 minutes. I tried Crispy Panko Chicken Schnitzel (RM35). Though the waiting period is long, it was worth as the Crispy Panko Chicken Schnitzel was very tasty. Pounded chicken breast, breaded and fried into golden perfection was very tender. I love sautéed mushrooms and baby spinach that served together with the chicken as it was very fresh and tasty!

For drink, I tried one of the thick shakes – Banofee pie (RM15).  It was creamy but not too thick..at least my tummy was temporary full, since waiting for the food quite some time.

Since the waiting period is long, I did not managed to snap my ex-colleagues foods! (everyone was damn hungry). But overall, all of us very satisfied with the ambiance and foods.

2- FIQS Gastronomy
No. 34 Jalan SS19/1D Subang Jaya, 47500 Kuala Lumpur
Opening Hours: 12:00 p.m. – 10:30 p.m. Fridays: 3:00 p.m. – 10:30 p.m. Closed on Mondays

I went here together with husband and kids. The interior is nice and most of the furniture is using pallet (which I can consider as go-green café). On that day, a group of friends celebrated birthday over there…so if you plan for some small function, you can call them directly for reservation.

Tried from starter to main course and dessert as well. We ordered iced chocolate (RM9), watermelon juice (RM10) and mineral water (RM2) for drinks. Actually, they do serve plain cold water for free, and they will refill it once finished! (I think it’s free because not stated in the bill, and the waiter keep on checking whether they need to refill it!)

We ordered roasted potato gnocchi (RM20) for appetizer, spaghetti tomatoes (RM22), roasted Chicken (RM27) for main course and Baked Alaska (RM15) for dessert.

Spaghetti tomatoes (RM22

Spaghetti tomatoes is something like Bolognese. There is extra sauce inside the big tomato! Which I only realised later

Baked Alaska (RM15)

Baked Alaska is sour dessert which consist of Ice cream, citrus sorbet, hazelnut powder, walnut tuile, butterscotch and toasted bread. For those that love sour dessert, you should try this.

Overall, they have a nice food presentation. Food is consider good (but I think I choose safe menu – since together with kids)

3-Tryst Café
74, Jalan SS 15/4c, 47500 Subang Jaya, Selangor
Operating hour: Friday (4pm - 2am) Saturday (10am - 2am) Sunday – Thursday (10am - 1am)

We discovered this café, as the café appeared in Jalan-Jalan Cari Makan (TV3). Since it was looked tempting, we went there on the same day it aired in JJCM TV3 (Thankfully it was not really damned packed, perhaps as we reached there around 4pm)

Tryst Café offer cozy and nice ambiance and it is an ideal place to chill with your friends. There is edgy graffiti on the walls. Tryst Café is a two storey café, however I think the second floor is simple with basic decoration as compared to the first floor.

They have pastas, breakfast times, western grilled, cakes, light staple and  pancake. Since JJCM host showed he had pancake, we opted to order pancake.

They have savoury and of course sweet pancake. We ordered hot chocolate (RM9), iced lemon tea (RM6), pancake chicken burger (RM10) and pancake vanilla longan (RM8).

Pancake vanilla longan (RM8)
Pancake vanilla longan is pancake served with sweet vanilla custard and longan. Since my first kid a big fan of lychee/ longan, he finished all the longan.

Pancake chicken burger (RM10)
Pancake chicken burger is basically combining burger with pancake (something rare for us). The main item was the pancake obviously. The pancake filled with chicken burger and cheese accompanied with salad and fries.

Overall taste, just alright but not to my liking.

4-Nanny’s Pavillon
L2M-23, KLIA 2
Opening hours : 24 hours

Nanny’s Pavillon is a conceptual French American pancake restaurant. From interior, don’t be surprised to see a baggage, custom-made suitcase-seats, sling bag and so on and since their concept is Porte Baggage.

The menu considered limited with beverage, lite bite, pasta, baked rice and their signature dish pancake. But it still okay since we came in around 4pm so we were not looking for something heavy.

We ordered Heavy’s Alvin Potato (RM10), Fit’z Carbonara Fettucini (RM18) and Y’nez Blueberry Cheese Roll Pancake (RM18) and iced tea.

Heavy’s Alvin Potato (RM10),
Heavy’s Alvin Potato is deep fried potato slices with chilli and mozzarella cheese on top. The potato was thinly sliced but we think it was overcooked (taste a little bit bitter).

Fit’z Carbonara Fettucini (RM18)
Fit’z Carbonara Fettucini just like normal carbonara and nothing fancy.

Y’nez Blueberry Cheese Roll Pancake (RM18)

The king for the day, was Y’nez Blueberry Cheese Roll Pancake, choose by my kid (I think he was tempted when the poster showed a pancake with ice cream!) . A sinful pancake treat with cream cheese filling, topped with ice cream and blueberry sauce. Husband not a big fan of pancake, suddenly said it was a damn good! A must try at Nanny’s Pavillon!

5-Murni Discovery Bukit Jalil
No 41, Jalan 16/155C, Bandar Bukit Jalil, 57000 K.L
Opening hours : Tuesday – Sunday (8am to 2am) except Friday and Saturday closed at 3am

Murni is not new for me, as discover this place for past several years (which back to that time they only at SS2). Now they have total of 7 outlets and perhaps still counting.

Murni is known for its custom made and fusion food and drink. Murni signature dish is mee raja. And of course I always remember its Roti Hawaii and mango special (Roti Hawaii is big portion but still at affordable price, while mango special is something like mango ice blended with watermelon, nata de coco and lychee)

I still remembered how packed Murni, SS2 and despite of crowd the waiter can remember every single order. While nowadays, I saw waiter at Murni Discovery Bukit Jalil use apps to order!

This time, I ordered nasi goreng chicken chop (RM13), husband ordered maggi goreng chicken chop, and for drinks I love you (RM5) and be happy (RM5). First time ever, said I love you to a waiter, since the drinks itself name as I love you!

Be happy (RM5)

Be happy is mango, Ribena, strawberries and lychee, a refreshing drink perfect on sunny day!

Nasi goreng chicken chop (RM13)
Nasi goreng chicken chop is a big portion of combination east and west. The kids enjoy the chicken chop, while I have to finished the nasi goreng since it is a little bit spicy for them (they add dried chillies inside nasi goreng).

Perhaps will visit next time since I still crave for mango special and roti Hawaii!
