An Invitation to a discussion about IMD (21 July, 3 PM)

As a parent, nothing is more important than your child’s health. Have ever you heard about Invasive Meningococcal Disease (IMD)?

Personally I totally have no idea on this until I receive an email from Rachel for inviting me to the IMD discussion (mula2 baca terus teringat pneumococcal sbb ada coccal..tapi ni IMD ye..bunyi tang coccal je sama)

Which is why you should be equipped with the right information about IMD. IMD includes meningitis, which is a serious bacterial infection that can lead to severe brain damage or even death.

Babies and young children are particularly vulnerable to meningitis as they cannot easily fight infection due to an underdeveloped immune system. Meningococcal disease can be hard to recognise, especially in its early stages, because symptoms are similar to those of more common viral illnesses. Unlike more common illnesses, the disease can progress quickly and may cause death or disability in just a single day.

Prevention is better than cure

IMD can be prevented with adequate vaccines.
